Travel Planner - Mark Boyd Safaris

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Travel Planner to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for African wildlife and ecosystems, as well as a keen eye for crafting personalised itineraries that exceed client expectations. As a Travel planner, you will work closely with clients to understand their interests and preferences, design customised safari experiences and coordinate all logistical aspects of their journey to ensure a seamless and unforgettable adventure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their travel preferences, interests and budgetary constraints.
  • Design bespoke safari itineraries that showcase the diverse landscapes, wildlife and cultural experiences of Africa.
  • Research and recommend accommodations, activities and transportation options that align with clients’ preferences and budget.
  • Coordinate all aspects of safari logistics, including booking accommodations, arranging transportation and scheduling activities.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing detailed information about their itinerary and addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Liaise with local partners, guides and vendors to ensure smooth execution of safari itineraries.
  • Stay informed about current travel trends, destinations and conservation efforts in Africa to provide up-to-date recommendations to clients.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in luxury travel, with a strong focus on serving an international clientele.
  • In-depth knowledge of luxury properties and attractions in East Africa, particularly those appealing to high-net-worth guests
  • Bachelor’s degree/ Diploma in tourism management, hospitality, or related field preferred.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple client itineraries simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and local partners.
  • Proficiency in travel planning software and tools, such as booking platforms and itinerary management systems.
  • A passion for conservation and sustainable tourism practices.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours and weekends as needed to accommodate client needs and time zone differences.
