About the role

The Environmental Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization’s environmental policies and practices to ensure compliance with regulatory and Market requirements, promote sustainability, and minimize environmental impact. The role involves assessing risks, training staff, and overseeing environmental audits and programs to align with corporate, customer and legal environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all local, national and international environmental laws and regulations.
  • Obtain and maintain necessary environmental permits and licenses.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate environmental risks.
  • Develop and implement environmental policies, systems, and procedures.
  • Establish benchmarks and metrics for measuring environmental performance.
  • Lead initiatives to improve energy efficiency, waste reduction, and resource conservation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement sustainable business practices.
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments for company operations.
  • Develop contingency plans for handling environmental emergencies.
  • Train employees and management on environmental best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a culture of environmental responsibility within the organization.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports and documentation to regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain accurate records of environmental performance and incidents.
  • Work with government agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders on environmental matters.
  • Represent the organization in public forums and industry conferences on environmental issues.
  • Planning and executing customer visits

QualificationsExperience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental management, compliance, or sustainability.
  • Proven experience in managing environmental projects and teams.
  • Certification in Environmental Management will be added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards (e.g. ISO 14001).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in environmental management systems and reporting tools.
