Job Overview

The Assistant Camp Manager will assist the Camp Manager in all aspects of daily operations at camp by helping with organising and monitoring the camps day to day operations.

You will be expected to:

  1. Assist the camp manager in organising and monitoring delegated tasks and projects.
  2. Assist the camp manager in organising guest activities.
  3. Assist the camp manager in designing and implementing daily plans.
  4. Meet and great, check-in, check out and act as a main point of contact at camp for guests.
  5. Conduct the guest arrival briefing and indemnity.
  6. Act as a liaison between guests and camp management to ensure smooth communication is achieved to reduce delays or mistakes in service and customer care.
  7. Conduct regular quality, service, safety, and standards checks to ensure guest satisfaction.
  8. Prepare stock, inventory, camp consumption, and waste reports.
  9. Perform all related office and admin-related tasks required
  10. Perform all related camp management duties in the absence of the camp manager

You will be required to host guest meals, sundowners, etc in rotation with the Camp manager. E.g if one of you does the dinner late night shift, the other does the early morning shift, and visa versa. One manager must be present at all times to host or attend to any guest needs.

Skills - what you should be able to do

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Tourism, or a related field
  • A Master’s degree will be an added advantage
  • Must work efficiently under pressure.
  • People skills – tolerance, patience, and caring at all times.
  • Hosting skills – to promote the hospitality ethos within our property.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent hygiene principles.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Tourism, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience in management and operations in high-end camps
  • Self-driven individuals with stamina and a mentality to produce professional standards in a challenging remote environment
  • Social and open-minded individuals with a great personality
  • Possess good people management skills and are able to lead a strong diverse workforce.
  • Very comfortable with a remote bush location
  • Proven ability in report writing and general administrative duties
