General Sales Manager Job ref DTD/GSM/1

Our client, in the Motor Industry, is looking for a General Sales Manager to head up their Sales department.

The incumbent will be reporting to the Managing Director, and will have sales representatives and administration staff as his/her subordinates.

Duties and Responsibilities

i) Countrywide sales of the client’s  Products, achieving sales targets set jointly with the Managing Director and his deputy

ii) Product planning and choosing the right specifications for the client’s products executed jointly with the Managing Director and the principals.

iii)Training staff in Nairobi and the branches on product knowledge and soft selling skills, and guiding them on enhancing sales in their territories and monitoring their sales performance

iv) Advising the Branch Managers on enhancement of sales.

v)  Ensuring that customer databases in all the countrywide sales outlets are up to date and that the customer prospecting and follow-up systems are operational with proper reporting back systems

vi) Ordering stocks of new vehicles in close consultation with the Managing Director and his Deputy

vii) Spearheading marketing, advertising and promotional campaigns in liaison with the respective marketing agencies

viii)Visiting fleet owners and branches on regular basis

ix)  Liaising with the Parts Department and Workshops on regular basis regarding parts and service issues/problems

x)   Carrying out market research on competitors’ products/ activities on frequent basis

xi) Demonstrations of new products to customers/branches/ dealers as and when necessary

xii)Advising Sales Administration Department on technical specifications of the client’s products when necessary

xiii)Guiding the Sales Administrator on sales administration matters

xiv)Helping in sales of other company products when necessary

xv)Liaising with capstone on invoicing/pricing/shipping issues on regular basis

xvi)Planning/organizing/assisting with motor shows and any other promotional activities

xvii)Any other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time

Remuneration:

An attractive salary will be offered based on qualifications, skills and experience.

This magazine is dedicated to being the platform that provides information, meeting the needs of the holiday and business traveler in a manner that inspires and makes the experience more enjoyable. Our client also provides excellent entertainment for the armchair traveler. As a monthly publication, our client’s magazine is designed to showcase the very best that the East African region has to offer and to inspire readers to travel, discover and enjoy.

Their team is a tight-knit group that works hard with enthusiasm for the product that they produce and represent. They are looking for someone who is ready to jump right in, learn the product and market and require someone passionate, loyal, hard-working and very tough!

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Proofread, fact check  and revise copies before final print
  • Ensure that artwork and images for features and regular section articles are received on time and that the photo credits and contact information are accurate.
  • Responsible for the production and timely delivery of well researched written articles for the regular and features sections
  • Research new destinations, venues, leisure activities and topics and use your own specialist knowledge to contribute ideas to the magazine
  • Organise desired and planned visits to venues with potential partners
  • Review and propose submitted articles for publication both online and for the magazine
  • Coordinate travel schedules and itineries with venues, assigned writers and airlines.
  • Plan and contribute magazine content planning sessions
  • Monitor assigned Clients’ distribution points to ensure that:
    a.       There is sufficient stock on the shelves and restock when necessary
    b.      The magazine is strategically placed in the media market to guarantee maximum visibility.
  • Manage the magazine’s photo library and PDF archives to ensure that all purchases and used mages are logically catalogued electronically.
  • Manage and facilitate all special projects in liaison with the editorial team: this includes safari planner website content management, Facebook,Blog,Twitter etc
  • Promote and enhance the magazine’s image at all times

Skills and Experience

  • A degree in Communications would be an advantage otherwise a formal qualification in writing/Journalism or English
  • Excellent Computer skills (Word,Excel,Powerpoint)
  • Proven ability to write sharp,concise,descriptive articles
  • Experience in independent travel
  • Excellence in written and spoken English

Package

A salary of sh. 45,000-sh.50,000 is on offer based on qualifications, skills and experience.
