SECURITY & INTELLIGENCE ANALYST

About the client
Our client is a Nairobi based strategic risk Management Company specialising in difficult security assignments across Kenya. The company is owned by an International, parent company.
Major Function:
The Security and Intelligence Analyst (SIA) will be responsible for all information gathering, analysis and data management within SFL. The key products of the role will be daily and monthly reports which are sent to our clients, consultants and senior managers. In addition, management of digital mapping products and production of mapping products is a secondary role.
Main tasks
Information Management & Support to Operations and Management
- Under the direction of Ops and the GM the SIA will support the companies consultants in accordance with required outputs and contracts.
- Under the direction of the GM the SIA will be responsible for all information and analysis products in support of those contracts.
- The SIA will assist in the development of training, SOPs and manuals covering all aspects of information management delivered through the company.
- Help the GM and Ops manage human, material and information resources in a way that is in line with SFL SOPs.
- Ensure the sound, efficient and economic use of information and data management equipment and its maintenance.
Communications
- The SIA will report directly to the GM SFL who is responsible for the management and coordination of all information related activities within SFL.
- In conjunction with the GM the SIA will help ensure that communication is maintained between the principal clients regarding information reports and SFL HQ.
- SIA will be supplied with an encrypted laptop and roaming mobile telephone both are his responsibility, he is to ensure security is maintained to the highest degree to prevent leakage or compromise
Technical Support/Capacity building
- Where appropriate, participate in relevant security meetings and workshops in the region, and develop papers, reports and presentations on SFL’s work.
Salary
- The salary is negotiable depending on the experience and skill.
- The salary will be payable on a monthly basis at the end of each working month.
- In and Out patient medical Insurance for the individual is included
- The employee will be entitled to 21 days leave per year.
Qualifications:
Knowledge:
The SIA should have a detailed knowledge of the Kenyan Security environment, general knowledge of the field of security regionally, and a proven history of information management in a commercial environment.
Skills and Abilities:
- A commitment to information analysis especially in a security context
- Demonstrable mental agility and writing skills – dynamic, excellent inter-personal skills, integrity and motivation.
- Proven ability to analyse and interpret information
- Good problem solving and organisational skills.
- Ability to continue work and adapt in a context of physical insecurity.
- Strong communication skills.
- Exemplary IT skills.
- Fluency in English is required.

Our client owns a luxury camp set in a private conservation area in the Maasai Mara, bordering the Serengeti and Loliondo reserves in an untouched 250,000 acre exclusive concession providing the discerning client a guarantee of privacy and an abundance of wildlife.
Our client is seeking to employ a management couple, for both front of house and back of house.
About this position
The incumbents will undertake and lead all aspects of camp management and ensure that the clients receive the best possible experience and service. They will also ensure that the camp is run efficiently and effectively with proper systems in place and upheld. They will ensure the overall company makes a profit in a transparent and accountable way.
The Managers shall at all times conduct themselves and the management of the company in accordance with the highest professional standards having regard in particular to the safety, comfort and experience of the clients, the reputation of the Operator; the relationship with the Maasai community and the preservation of the environment.
Main Goals
- The daily management of camp
- To improve the cost effectiveness of camp
- To improve standards of client service
- To improve camp core back-end facilities (housing, plumbing, electricity, workshops, security, safety and hygiene)
- To improve and implement the camp operations hand-book
- Prepare the monthly management reports. Liaise bi-monthly with directors and carry out agreed to recommendations of the management report
- To implement camp related audit recommendations
Daily & Monthly Managerial & Operational Activities
- Prepare monthly camp management report on a timely and accurate basis. Take action where required to improve camp efficiently and effectiveness
- Provide annual work-plans to the Directors for their approval
- Agree with directors on Camp Management performance appraisal system and key targets and outputs within the annual work-plan
- Manage and implement and report on camp ordering systems.
- Control all stocks and improve on stock efficiencies.
- Analyze and report on stock usage.
- Analyze waybills
- Control inventories.
- For each delivery confirm to Nairobi that the waybill and supply of goods matches the order and that the order matches the respective invoice
- Ensure highest quality of clients experience and service.
- Set staff terms of reference, train, supervise and monitor staff performance
- Handle all personnel matter in regard to camp staff and coordinate with the Nairobi
- Maintain muster roll.
- Pay salaries
- Manage (if applicable) bonus scheme and penalties in consultation with the director(s).
- Implement a weekly or once every two weeks meeting with camp and write-up a summary of the meeting with action points (and follow through on action points) and sending to the Directors and Nairobi accounts for information.
- Ensure regular updates with Nairobi so that information is well managed and plans are in place well in advance with regard to all camp operational and managerial issues.
- Manage and improve on maintenance, repairs, and renewals.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene of camp and client rooms (and systems to support hygiene – water and waste system etc).
- Ensure all relevant camp licenses are up to date, in place and upheld
- Ensure medical supplies are in place at camp and are accessible to key staff – guides, head staff etc.
- Provide medical guidance as required. Implement stock system and replenishment for medical supplies.
- Plan and manage guide, vehicle and equipment allocations.
- Ensure that animals do not graze at the campsite
- Develop an operating budget for camp
- Staff training and development.
- Cost and controls of assets and stock managed
- Manage and account for all petty cash and camp finances and ensure the appropriate reporting requirements are maintained and cash securely kept.
- Liaison with reservation and planning and organization of camp arrival, departure and other relevant details allocate transfers and activities and inform all staff concerned as to arrivals and departures of guests.
- Hosting of clients, including meet and greet, intro to rooms, asking if any problems, addressing any problems as they arrive and generally ensuring the guests are kept happy and that high standards of service are provided by all staff members. The managers would not be required to sit with clients at every meal. The managers would not be required to guide clients.
- Ensure food and menus are in the highest quality, taste and presentation possible.
- Ensure camp assets are well looked after and mitigation of potential theft through ensuring security does regular checks, periodic assets and stock counts, efficient store controls and clear systems are in place.
- Following correct insurance and legal requirements should an accident or incident take place at camp.
- Train staff regularly on hygiene and safety issues.
- Accompany Director for all Maasai meetings. Ensure no additional payments are agreed to or contracts entered into without first the explicit agreement of 2 or more directors. Keep minutes of such meetings and share with directors.
- Supervision of medical systems and issuance of medical supplies.
- Responsible for ensuring that agents and media receive the correct information (brochures, CD’s etc) and experience whilst at camp.
- Responsible for ensuring that relevant information of clients, media and agents are captured as per the forms provided and within the company database. Prepare annual Christmas newsletter and card ready for distribution.
- Ensuring Car maintenance systems are in place, are effective and efficient
- Attendance and participation of quarterly Directors meetings. Follow through on relevant Directors meetings outcomes and action points.
- Supervises shop inventory sales, re-supply, accounting of.
- Seek to encourage clients to return to a cottar product.
- Ensure company guns and ammunitions are stored legally and safely at all times and ensure release of guns and ammunitions follows legal requirements.
- Ensure that staff and clients are provided the optimum environment for security (radios and guns on walks, with at least 2 staff; radios in all vehicles etc)
- Ensure clients sign the waiver form on arrival at camp
- Camp Management have the right to hire and terminate staff
- Manage and operate profitable camp spa
Annual Deliverables
- Annual Stock-Take and Asset Inventory
- Annual Work-Plan
- Annual End of Year Report
- Annual Meeting with company Directors and Shareholders
- Annual Discussion with Auditors and Plan agreed to implement camp related Audit recommendations
Qualification and Experience
- A degree in hotel management preferable or equivalent acceptable
- A minimum of seven (7) years in a tourist based environment or similar environment

Duties & Responsibilities
The incumbent must be able to carry out the following tasks and responsibilities:
- New build
- General repair and maintenance of existing buildings
- Vehicle repair and maintenance
- Airstrip maintenance
- Road maintenance
- Plumbing work
- Electronic work
- Maintenance of the pool and good knowledge of water systems.
Qualification and Experience
- A higher diploma in building or equivalent acceptable
- A minimum of two (2) years in a busy construction environment

Our client owns a private retreat in Africa’s most remote and historical corners. They are seeking to fill the position of camp manager within their lodge.
Job Description:
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing all aspects of the lodge and grounds. Ensuring company property isn’t abused and it’s always kept in good condition.
- Overseeing day to day maintenance of the lodge and its grounds. This includes gardens, rooms, main buildings, swimming pool.
- Overseeing the day to day maintenance off all vehicles, boats, generators and any other machinery belonging to the lodge. This includes servicing, checking and repairing if need be.
- Maintaining the airstrip.
- Monthly stock taking of all maintenance and fuel related stocks, and making sure the administrator receives the reports on time.
- Ordering of maintenance supplies to replenish stock.
- Develop, train, provide direction for all staff employed and ensure that they abide to the rules of the lodge. These include kitchen, waiters and room personnel.
- Hosting and guiding of all the clients and ensuring all their needs are met to their satisfaction.
- Marketing of the lodge to attract more clients and business.
- Support the other members of the management team to ensure the overall goals of the lodge are met.
Person Profile:
- A hands-on manager who will be responsible for the day to day operations of the lodge with an emphasis on increasing client satisfaction, developing staff and ensuring the lodge’s high standards are maintained.
- Must be committed to the provision of quality service and be responsive to client needs
- A dynamic approach towards business development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
- Relevant degree or diploma will be an added advantage
- Previous experience in camp management would also be beneficial.
