FINANCE MANAGER – JOB REF: EA/FM/1

Our client, a well reputed Insurance Firm is searching for a FINANCE MANAGER, who will report to the Finance Director.

Overall Purpose

Responsible to the Finance Director for providing technical and professional leadership in the planning, development and evaluation of the company’s financial and administrative policies and systems, including strategic financial and administration plan and budget aimed at ensuring prudent management and control of financial and administrative resources.

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

Participating in the yearly strategic planning process and develop strategies that will ensure that the company meets its mandate to the various stakeholders, within the existing environment in the medium and long term

Making medium and long term financial projections and putting the strategic plan in forms of measurable financial outcomes

Reviewing and presenting the monthly management accounts to the Finance Director. Making constant evaluation and monitoring of all accounts and record-keeping.

Coordinating the company’s yearly budget. Planning and preparation of monthly budgetary reports for each Division. Reporting implications for each Division and for overall company budget as well.

Managing taxation matters, liaising with KRA & Tax consultants

Planning the Statutory audit and liaising with the External Auditors

Ensuring that the company maintains a sound Finance & Accounting system that will provide timely, accurate, and adequate information for strategic and operational decision making.

Representing the Finance Director in various forums

Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), Economics, Accounting or a related field

Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACA, ACCA, ACMA or equivalent membership to a relevant professional body

At least eight (8) years experience gained in related core business; 5 (five) years of which as Chief Accountant or Finance Manager

Key Competencies

Considerable knowledge of economics, financial management, including in-depth understanding of the Insurance Industry rules, regulations and guidelines (Candidates who do not have an in-depth knowledge of Insurance Industry rules will also be considered)

Considerable knowledge of international accounting standards including financial forecasting and monitoring of budgets

Strong customer focus, flexibility and responsiveness in handling and determining stakeholder complaints

Technical expertise in strategic planning and budgeting, risk management, quality assurance as well as monitoring and evaluation

Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook express including financial and statistical packages

Willingness to innovate and come up with new ideas

Maturity to handle people and challenging assignments objectively

Willingness to up-hold and support corporate values

High stress tolerance

RENUMERATION: KShs.150,000-200,000 gross/month dependant on skills, experience and qualifications.
